By using this service, you the customer confirm that you accept these terms and conditions and agree to abide by them.

The service is owned by the Department for Transport (DfT) and operated by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), an Executive Agency of DfT.

Access to the Service

This service provides an online look-up tool to allow motorists to check whether their vehicle is compatible with E10 petrol. Motorists will be able to enter the manufacturer (make) of their vehicle and will be presented with a list of models which will display whether or not their vehicle is compatible with the petrol.

Termination

DfT reserve the right to withdraw this service at any point and without prior notice.

Continuity of service

Where possible, DfT will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that there is no break in the continuity of service and will only make changes when required. Outages may be required on occasions where essential upgrades to the service need to be implemented.

The E10 petrol check has been created by the Department for Transport and DVLA, using information supplied by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association and European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers. The information is subject to change and we cannot guarantee its accuracy. If your vehicle is fitted with replacement parts this will also affect its accuracy. DfT and DVLA cannot guarantee the information provided.

If in doubt whether a vehicle is suitable for use with E10, consult the instruction booklet of your vehicle, the inside of the fuel filler flap or directly with the car / motorcycle / scooter manufacturer. If you are still unsure or cannot use E10, we recommend continuing to use E5 petrol, which will remain available in the “Super” grade from many filling stations.

The DfT, DVLA and its partners do not accept any liability for any damage as a result of or in connection with the use of the E10 petrol check.

Other petrol powered equipment -

To understand the compatibility of petrol powered equipment other than cars or motorbikes, such as lawnmowers, forestry machinery, light aircraft and power boats we recommend consulting the handbook or manual or contacting the manufacturer. If still unsure we recommend continuing to use E5 petrol, which will remain available in the “Super” grade from many filling stations.

DfT will make every effort to check and test material at all stages of production. However, you the customer must take your own precautions to ensure that the process you employ for accessing this service does not expose you the customer to the risk of viruses, malicious computer code or other forms of interference which may damage your device.

DfT does not accept responsibility for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or your device which may occur whilst using material derived from this service.

Viruses, hacking and other offences

If you the customer misuse the service by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or any server, computer or database connected to DfT, attack our service via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack, you the customer would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. DfT will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and may co-operate with those authorities by disclosing information about you to them.

If any of these terms and conditions are held to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal for any reason, the remaining terms and conditions shall nevertheless continue in full force.

If DfT waives any rights available to it under these terms and conditions on one occasion, this does not mean that those rights will automatically be waived on any other occasion.

Events beyond DVLA control

DfT and DVLA accept no liability for any failure to comply with these terms and conditions where such failure is due to circumstance beyond its reasonable control. If DfT/DVLA waives any rights available to it under these terms and conditions on one occasion, this does not means that those rights will automatically be waived on any other occasion.

Governing law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
